Overcoats intrigue with their Autre Ne Veut-produced single “Hold Me Close”

JJ Mitchell and Hana Elion are Overcoats, a new New York-based duo with an album set for release on April 21. Young is led by the Autre Ne Veut-produced “Hold Me Close,” a song as warm as it is distant. Mitchell and Elion’s harmonies are captivating, as is Arthur Ashin’s characteristically hyperactive production. And coupled together, there’s an intriguing dichotomy at play. Ashin’s kinetic, urgent production choices directly contrast the calm assuredness from Mitchell and Elion. They can put on a strong face, but underneath they find it hard to keep themselves together.
