CURRENT: Gucci Mane – “On Me”

Gucci Mane makes his triumphant return later this month with Everybody Looking, his first new album since being released from prison. He’s already released a string of tracks – including “First Day Out tha Feds,” “Back On Road” featuring Drake, “All My Children,” and now “On Me.” The newest would already serve as a refreshing throwback to 90s West Coast rap even without Tupac Shakur’s voice popping up during the cut, but his presence only confirms what Gucci Mane’s recent output suggests: he’s coming for the throne. Whether he succeeds or not, it’s a thrill to hear him try.

Listen to “On Me” over at Pitchfork.
