It had been a minute since we last heard from Usher – that is until he released the Young Thug-assisted “No Limit” earlier this week. He’s now unleashed another new track, the sleek, electro-pop banger “Crash.” Years after he wowed critics and audiences alike with the Diplo-produced “Climax,” Usher takes some cues from that essential track and positions them in new ways on this new single. The slow-building, simmering intensity of “Climax” is here, as is Usher’s undeniable falsetto. But he bumps up the tempo a bit, and the urgency. “Would you mind if I still love you,” a wounded Usher sings at the onset of the chorus. When he sounds this good, how could one possibly mind?
No word yet on a new album from Usher, but considering the times, it’s most likely right around the corner.
