It’s been a minute since we heard from Danny Brown. The Detroit-rapper was responsible for one of the 2013’s best records, the double-disc Old. While we await word on a proper follow-up to that album, Danny Brown has teamed up with Adult Swim for their annual, reliably great singles series. On “Worth It,” Danny Brown doesn’t interpolate Fifth Harmony’s breakthrough single, but he does an ace job in exposing the pitfalls of living life through rap cliches: “Is it really worth it / New girls every night / Do you wanna live that life,” he asks his audience. Crucially, he isn’t vilifying anyone consumed in that lifestyle, rather acknowledging it isn’t for everyone. Danny Brown knows where he stands. Do you?
“Worth It” will be available for free download beginning at 12 EST on August 3, 2015 via the Adult Swim Singles Series website.
