This find courtesy of kris ex over at Pitchfork and well worth reiterating. New York’s SHIRT, as the opening track of his recently released Museum suggests, used to go by T.SHIRT. The opening cut’s title conveys the matter-of-fact, no-bullshit, unfiltered dynamics of SHIRT’s music. The beat is a lo-fi, highly charged force, with an electric guitar riff reminiscent of Kanye West’s “Gorgeous”. As slippery as the beat is, however, SHIRT’s flow always stays out in front. If there’s any reason no one had heard of SHIRT before now, it’s only because we needed time to catch up.

All hail “the Louis CK of rap.”
