CURRENT: Caribou – “Can’t Do Without You”

If you’re like me, you were first introduced to Dan Snaith’s musical outlet Caribou through the infectious 2010 underground hit “Odessa”. But on new single “Can’t Do Without You”, Snaith completely outclasses his prior work as Caribou. For the first ninety seconds, “Without You” rests in the same downtempo, lo-fi vocal realm as “Odessa”, until the song builds, first with some energized percussion, before waves of synths threaten to blow the whole operation away. The summer just got a little brighter.

Our Love, the new studio LP from Caribou, won’t be out until 7 October (via Merge), but a pre-order is available now in some areas, and comes with an immediate download of “Can’t Do Without You”.
