Santa Barbara, California’s Gardens & Villa check off a lot of important guidelines on their new single “Colony Glen,” from their forthcoming studio album Dunes (out 4 February via Secretly Canadian). A propulsive, electronica-inspired beat? Check. Infectious, soaring vocals? Of course. A tight, coherent structure? It has that, too.
The track breezes through it’s 4+ minute runtime, grabbing a hold of the listener from the get-go and refusing to let up throughout. Produced by Tim Goldsworthy, whose credits include Cut Copy and Hercules and the Love Affair, to name two, the song certainly has the proper pedigree in becoming a must-hear listen, and the execution leaves little to be desired.
