St. Vincent further proves why she is one of the most captivating, essential artists of the early 21st century with “Birth In Reverse,” the first taste of new music from the artist born Annie Clark’s forthcoming studio LP, St. Vincent. Its melody is one that forces the listener into submission, succumbing to the assertive and radiant vibes emanating from Clark’s delivery. “Oh, what an ordinary day / Take out the garbage, masturbate,” goes the the track’s opening couplet, making Ke$ha’s morning ritual seem rather pedestrian by (random and inconsequential) comparison. As with any artist hitting their creative peak, “Birth In Reverse” is an assertive reminder of Clark’s otherworldly talents while giving us a glimpse at hues we have yet to see.
The self-title album will be released on 25 February in the U.S. through Loma Vista.
