The promising Ejecta, a duo formed by Leanne Macomber and Joel Ford, release the brooding, slow building and slyly anthemic “Afraid Of The Dark,” which begins as an earnest pop ballad before taking off towards the stratosphere during the song’s second half. “This heart’s afraid of the dark,” sings Macomber on the song, with the lyric implying a sort of Pavlovian response to darkness, as if she’s been trained to fear the areas where there is no light. Fortunately for Macomber, “Afraid Of The Dark” is bright enough to light up the night sky.
