Another month is almost in the books, meaning it’s time to take a look back at the best of what August had to offer. Normally a time of year that acts as a respite between the flurry of releases that signal the beginning of summer and the holiday season, this year’s August releases bucked that trend. From Earl Sweatshirt’s hyped sophomore set to Kendrick Lamar cementing his legacy, Drake delivering one of the best pop songs of the year to Chela and Gent Mason making a name for themselves off the strength of their debut singles, there’s plenty to look back at fondly from August 2013.
